Margaret River Ocean Swim

In Uncategorized by Charlotte OBeirne

Saturday January 4th will see a return of the Margaret River Ocean Swim. Ran previously as the Gnarabup K in the Bay, the only things that have really changed are the name, and the wonderful sponsors.

The race starts at 8.30am from the north of the White Elephant Cafe. The White Elephant have kindly agreed to be the main sponsors of the event this year so if you know anybody who doesn’t want to swim they can grab a coffee and some brekky from the White Elephant whilst that watch you!

Its all about fun There will be prizes for the first man and first woman across the line courtesy of the generous people at Swimmers World in Perth but all other prizes will be awarded on a participation basis. We want this swim to be about having fun. You may be an experienced salty swimmer or it may be your first ocean swim. You might need to wear fins and a snorkel to make the distance or a wet suit if you feel the cold. All of that is OK.

Safety First Margaret River Surf Lifesaving club will be providing water safety for the event and will have jet ski’s out in the water making sure we all feel safe. Registrations will close at 8.15 am so all can be present for the race briefing at 8.20 on the beach.

Fun with the locals.  The following local businesses have been really generous in supporting the event: White Elephant, Swimmers World and Stocker Preston

Prizes have also been donated by: Everyday Potted Plants, The Hemp Shop, Zinful, Devils Lair, Preveli Wines, McHenry Hohnen, Juniper Estate and Voyager Estate with more to be named soon!

More race specific information is available on the swim here. I do hope you are able to come and join us and if not, at least tell a friend! Happy Christmas.
